The term "Staff Development" means to me both personal development and professional development. Its about developing teachers as skilled professionals but also as people. So it could be anything on the one hand... And I think that the whole issue to do with the reflective practitioner fits in very well here. It stands to become a bit of a buzz phrase "reflective practitioner", but I think its a very important one. Its really about helping teachers to reflect on and be more aware of ideas, the mental models, the theories and assumptions which underpin their practice and look at how these affect that practice.
